Challenge
We challenged ourselves to build a virtual live music performance on Unreal Engine. As the boundary between digital and physical realities blurs, there's a growing need for greater human involvement in creating digital media. How can creators gain more control over virtual worlds, and in what ways can live performances evolve to take advantage of this enhanced interactivity?
Overview
Through our project, we intended to explore nature’s microcosms and macrocosms centered around a performer. We created a set of tools that a live performer would want for a performance within an Unreal virtual environment: Webcam Motion Capture, Audioreactivity, MIDI control, and post-processing effects. Additionally, over the brief course of the hackathon, our team recorded and produced a unique music track that uses sounds from nature, guitar, and live code.
