Challenge
Maria FInklemeier is a percussionist and faculty at Berklee College of Music. For her upcoming album titled 'Letters to my Former Self' I was asked to reinterpret her work Melody Figments that translates her movements in realtime into abstract web-like structures.
Overview
I created immersive environments in Unreal Engine, inspired by the story each song tells. Additionally, I programmed virtual cameras within the engine to capture the motion-reactive webs from dynamic angles, adding depth and excitement to the visuals. These generative webs are crafted by tracking movements during live musical performances, continuously evolving with each linear expression and sonic moment.
